Reiki for end of life care and carers
A workshop for Reiki students
For any existing Reiki students and practitioners, of all levels, who are wanting to gain tips, knowledge and confidence for if or when the time comes to call on Reiki to better support themselves and their loved ones/people in their care…
The aims of this workshop are
- to open up conversations about death and dying in a Reiki held space of gentleness, lightness, and even some humour – along with practical tips and useful advice throughout the weekend
- to build confidence with using Reiki for ourselves and our loved one/s in any setting – exploring when it’s appropriate and when to focus on self care as a fundamental for supporting others
- to empower and prepare individuals – through knowledge, experience and community – in the hopes of reducing any fear, confusion or overwhelm when we can feel in the dark about our options and what to expect
- to raise awareness of end of life services and provide some practical tips and knowledge drawing from accredited death education training and Soul Midwifery – with guest speakers and educators
- to offer an introduction to some key homeopathic remedies, Bach Flower and Australian Bush essences to support ourselves as carers and to soothe symptoms for the dying person
Workshop content:
Day 1: 10AM-6PM – the main learning
- Arrive, share in Reiki together and settle in for the day ahead
- Meet the team and their experiences of Reiki and end of life care – while the day introduces you to a wider range of services and knowledge, Reiki will be underpinning everything we do this weekend
- Introduction to the importance of death education, what it covers, and signposting to further support and training
- Introduction to the work of Soul Midwives and death doulas – understanding the role they can play
- Introduction to some key homeopathic remedies and plant essences to help both the carer and the dying person – particularly with challenging emotions that may arise
- Q&A time with guest speakers working and educating in the field
Day 2: from 10AM-2PM – Integration and reflection time
- a sharing circle over breakfast (croissant/crumpet and a cuppa – optional) giving participants the opportunity to chat more freely about their own experiences, concerns and needs
- followed by a Reiki share 11:30AM-1:30PM to conclude the workshop with a closing circle before participants make their way home
Following the workshop:
- Attendees will receive a copy of multi-award winning Soul Midwife, celebrant and death educator, Katie Costello’s book ‘A Gift’ along with a workshop booklet to take home
- Ongoing access to the Usui Reiki Centre community via our Reiki newsletter email, shares and events
