About Reiki treatments
Why choose Reiki?
Reiki is a very relaxing and nurturing treatment which works on a holistic level providing comfort physically, mentally and emotionally. Whether you need pain relief; mental calm or emotional release, Reiki works in whatever way is needed. It is gentle, sometimes subtle and yet we find it often works profoundly. Reiki goes to where it is needed and acts as deeply as is required. It is cumulative in its action: the more Reiki goes in, the greater its effect. So when working with chronic conditions, a course of treatments will be more noticeably beneficial over time compared to a one-off treatment. That said, you don’t have to be unwell to receive Reiki. It’s a useful maintenance tool for general well-being, too.
What is a treatment like?
Private sessions are around 60-75 minutes long usually laying on a massage table (but can be seated) with pillows and blankets as needed for comfort. The receiver remains clothed, only removing shoes and glasses. There is no manipulation or massage.
The Reiki practitioner follows a sequence of hand placements (which may vary depending on need) for a few minutes each time. We practice hands-on but where there is sensitivity eg ticklish feet then we can avoid that area or do hands-off.
Before the treatment we can discuss what has brought you to try Reiki and any observations after the treatment. You only need to share as much as you feel comfortable with as the Reiki will work whether you do or not. That is one of the great things about Reiki: it is non-intrusive.
What does Reiki feel like?
The sensations, during a treatment, vary but mostly people feel heat or tingling in places as the energy moves to where it is needed. Some clients report seeing colours or hearing music. Mostly a treatment feels relaxing and sometimes the recipient falls asleep, which is perfectly fine, and then wakes up feeling refreshed. Sometimes the Reiki will unblock stagnant energy or difficult emotions and the client may experience the release during the treatment or later on; it depends on how the Reiki has worked for them. This is fine, too, and shows the Reiki is helping to restore balance.
You may experience an instant sense of peace and calm or the Reiki may manifest over the coming days as mental clarity and/or emotional stability and resilience.
Throughout the treatment, the client is in control of their comfort levels while we facilitate the Reiki and support and reassure where needed.
Course feedback
“I attended the Reiki One and Two courses and found the teaching style very supportive and accessible, putting me at ease very quickly.
I have been able to apply what I’ve learnt to my other therapy work, enhancing the way I treat my patients.”

Reiki shares
“I enjoy attending both the hands on Reiki (sometimes it’s just nice to be quiet for a couple of hours!), but equally the Reiki Two shares bring up interesting topics for discussion.”
