Reiki & Us
Universal life energy
What is Reiki?
Reiki (pronounced ‘Ray-key’) means ‘universal life energy’ and it describes a system of natural, hands-on healing that originates from Japan. This gentle, safe form of energy-work can be of benefit to anyone during the normal course of life and in times of illness and stress to balance body, mind and spirit.
Reiki was received and developed 100 years ago by Mikao Usui, in Japan. It was brought to the West by Hawayo Takata, via Hawaii, in 1937.
It is passed on from master to student through specific initiation rites, teachings and defined forms of practice. The Usui system is a way of working with Reiki for healing of self and others-regaining harmony and wholeness.
At Usui Reiki Centre, Norwich we follow the Usui Shiki Ryoho lineage: Mikao Usui, Dr Chujiro Hayashi, Hawayo Takata, Phyllis Lei Furomoto and Johannes Reindl.

Keeping it simple
Our ethos
At The Usui Reiki Centre, we take a very down to earth approach to Reiki.
Our workshops and events are grounded in the idea of exploring our humanness and we believe that working towards being masters is not about elevating us higher but about taking our practice and commitment to Reiki deeper.
Reiki can be a practical tool to help with wellbeing on a daily basis or explored further to become part of our spiritual lives.
Our aim is to keep Reiki simple by focusing on self-treating, treating others and receiving treatments as often as possible while applying the 5 principles to our lives.

Thrive with Reiki
Personal Development
Reiki is a fantastic tool for daily wellbeing which is why learning Reiki means you can have it to hand whenever you need it!
Reiki has a cumulative effect the more you practise – we offer Reiki shares as a way to give and receive treatments regularly along with your personal practice.
We also believe Reiki to be a fantastic tool for growth, development, and creativity which is why we also offer events and workshops to encourage Reiki students and practitioners to have fun with Reiki. When we are sharing in joy, we are able to thrive.
